West Jordan, Utah. — Meet this engaging man as we host For the Love of Arts Faire Aug. 9–10, 2024, at the Newgate Mall in Ogden, Utah. Award-winning science fiction and fantasy author W.D. Kilpack III of West Jordan will be signing books and answering your questions from 1-7 p.m. on Friday and Noon-7 p.m. on Saturday.
Kilpack said, "This event sounds like fun! It is being run by the same folks who ran the Itty Bitty Con and Cosplay Convention in June, which was awesome! So I expect no less! I look forward to meeting more people who have read my books, as well as making new friends. On top of that, I'll have some new and fun stuff to unveil about Pale Face development for the big screen!"
The For the Love of Arts Faire will include entertainment from 4-6 p.m. on both days.
Kilpack's published works include: New Blood Saga epic fantasy series Book 1: Crown Prince Book 2: Order of Light, Book 3: Demon Seed, Book 4: Rilari, the science-fiction novella Pale Face, and new release, dystopian military science-fiction epic, Battle Calm. The books have won a combined 24 book awards and honors, including the International Impact Book Award, the International Firebird Book Award, The BookFest Award, Honorable Mention in L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future, Editor's Choice and Top Pick from BooksShelf.com, and runner-up finishes in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy category of the Online Book Club's Book of the Year Competition. Pale Face has also recently been optioned for development into a Hollywood movie.
Kilpack said, "I love hearing from my readers! Even one is great, but more is better! They send me pictures of themselves holding my books, send me social-media posts they made, and I am so thankful for all of their support. So I would love to meet more of them in person in Ogden! I would also love to meet some young, aspiring writers. If I could help some pursue their own literary passions, even just a little, then that's time well spent."
According to Fermented Fiction podcast (formerly Sinister Soup) co-founder, Clay Vermulm, Kilpack "works extremely hard on his craft [and] delivers a stunning blow to the belief that Indie-Fantasy is worth any less that its salt [with] well-crafted epic[s] with unique plot mechanisms, well-developed and believable characters, and a world grounded in the visceral and the real."
Mel Calvert, host of The Mel Calvert Show on CBS and co-founder of the Author Symposium, said, "Early on as a kid, I was hooked on sci-fi. Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein were my heroes and I lost hope of finding another author to assume their reins. Kilpack has assumed [their] crown with a majesty and a flair I had despaired of seeing again."
